May 2025 Releases

Sizer Sprint Release Announcement (20 May 2025)

Hello Sizer Users,

We’re excited to announce the latest enhancements from our May 2025 sprints, designed to make your infrastructure planning even smoother and more efficient!

✨ Key Enhancements:

1. In-App Hardware Vendor Request for Partners

  • We’ve streamlined the process for Partners to request hardware vendor access directly within the Sizer application, significantly reducing friction.
  • This functionality is also available for customers and prospects who wish to perform sizing with their preferred hardware vendors.
  • All requests will undergo a review and due diligence process before access is granted.
  • Our Sizer FAQs have been updated to reflect this new process.

2. Shift to SPEC 2017 Integer Rates

  • Sizer has transitioned from using SPEC 2006 Integer Rates to the more current SPEC 2017 Integer Rates
  • While the 2017 values are generally lower, this change does not impact any existing or future sizings, ensuring consistency and accuracy.

3. Other enhancements

  • NAI Licensing Option: The licensing dropdown now includes the option to select NAI licenses, providing more comprehensive configuration choices.
  • Hybrid Nodes for Large FSVM: Sizer now supports hybrid nodes for large FSVMs, expanding beyond small-Str, Small, and Medium FSVMs to offer greater flexibility.
  • Strip Size Details: Striping details will now be displayed in Sizer solutions when EC (Erasure Coding) savings are applicable, offering more transparency into storage efficiency.
  • Generate CCW File: CCW File generation has been extended to support multi-cluster solutions and clusters with mixed nodes, making it simpler to import into Cisco CCW and produce comprehensive quotes.
  • Thermal restriction guardrails for XC7625-24N – it has the same thermal restrictions as XC7625-24

🐛Bug Fixes:

We’ve also squashed a few bugs to improve your experience:

  • Resolved an issue where NX-9151-G9 with drives could not be configured as an HCI node.
  • Fixed the automatic closure of the bulk edit dialog upon enabling Sync Rep.
  • Corrected the download failure for single-node solution proposals.

🚀 New Models Launched This Month:

  • We’re expanding our supported hardware with the addition of new OVHcloud models:
    • OVHcloud-Scale-i1-G2-EMR-01
    • OVHcloud-Scale-i2-G2-EMR-01
    • OVHcloud-Scale-i3-G2-EMR-01

Oct 2024 Releases

Hello everyone,

We’re glad to announce the completion of another Sizer sprint! We’re excited to share with you the highlights from the October releases (8th Oct & 22nd Oct)

Key Features & Enhancements

1. NC2 on Azure Overall Solution Cost

  • Sizer budgetary quote is updated to reflect the overall NC2 on Azure solution cost.
  • Starting today, the cost of the NC2 on Azure solution is not limited to the Nutanix software but also includes the Azure hardware cost.
  • Sizer pulls live pricing info for Azure bare metals when a budgetary quote is requested.
  • The prices are based on the opportunity theater. Details are provided in the budgetary quote’s disclaimer footnotes.
  • 2. EMR CPU support with Intel Speed Select Performance Profile (SST-PP)
  • We have extended EMR CPUs beyond Cisco & Fujitsu to HPE, Lenovo & NX platforms. EMR CPU support for Dell is in the works.
  • NX platforms support EMR CPUs with Intel Speed Select Performance Profile (SST-PP)
  • Intel SST-PP facilitates multiple CPU configurations with a single CPU SKU via profile selection.
  • Based on the workload and application types, the CPU can be reconfigured into one of the available Intel SST-PP profiles, which may contain different numbers of cores or TDP levels.
  • Intel SST-PP is limited to NX G9 platforms with select EMR CPUs. The NX team is working on field enablement content. Stayed tuned for the same.

3. Ability to share scenarios containing Insights data with Partners

  • Scenarios containing workloads created using Insights or Expansion Explorer data can be shared with partners.
  • This enables Nutanix to pass on leads generated by Expansion Explorer to be shared with partners to drive them autonomously.
  • Data gathered via Insights is considered confidential. To share the scenario with a partner, a customer consent email is mandatory.
  • We have provided a sample customer consent email template for seeking customer consent.

4. Sizer updated with AOS 6.10 CVM resource requirements

  • With GA of AOS 6.10, Sizer is updated with AOS 6.10 CVM resource requirements
  • AOS 6.10 Nutanix Configuration Maximums call out the Physical cores per CPU requirements, and Sizer is updated accordingly.
  • Starting today, Sizer scenarios will mandate new AOS 6.10 CVM resource requirements.

5. Services beyond Infrastructure Modernization

  • We have extended the Service offerings in Sizer beyond Infrastructure Modernization.
  • Support for Cloud & IT Automation Services –  Nutanix Cloud Manager (NCM) and Automation services.
  • Sizer supports services across Design, Deployment & Automation.

6. Generate CCW File for Cisco OEM Sizer Solution

  • To simply Cisco OEM hardware quote with Nutanix software, Sizer is enhanced to Generate a CCW File that can be imported into CCW.
  • The “Generate CCW File” option can be found under “BOM” related actions.
  • The “Generate CCW File” capability is limited to homogenous and single cluster solutions.

7. New SAP HANA Models in Sizer

  • The below models are now supported for the SAP HANA use case
    • DX560-16-G11-AC-NVMe & DX560-16-G11-LC-NVMe
    • DX380-24-G11 & DX380-24-G11-NVMe
  • SAP HANA models shall be automatically enabled in the future.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

  • Sizer Proposal PowerPoint updated with Q4 Financials.
  • Support for Storage-only node sizing extended to all hardware vendors
  • Increased the limits of the Server Virtualization profile – new max values are 128 vCPUs and 6TB of RAM
  • Guardrails added for HPE DX380-24-G11-NVMe platforms
    • 100G NIC and processor wattage limitations (only <=270W CPUs allowed)
    • NVMe drives are limited to 16 drives when 2x 100G NICs are configured
  • Guardrails added for Fujitsu platforms configured with 96GB DIMMs – only select SPR & EMR CPUs can be configured with 96GB DIMMs
  • Dell XC solution is limited to 16G by default, so users must explicitly select the older generations under cluster settings if they prefer 15G or 14G models.

Recently launched New Models

  • HPE DX385-24-G11-NVMe
  • HPE DX380-24-G11-NVMe & EMR CPUs
  • Lenovo HX650-V3-24NVMe
  • Equinix a3-large-plus-NVMe
